Last Thursday night was The 2008 Atlanta Power 30 Under 30 Awards. For the second year in a row I was named a finalist for my work with The Cracked Door Foundation Inc. I didn't make the top 30 this year but I won the prize of my life. Fortunately, I got to engage in a conversation with Bernice King, the daughter of Dr Martin Luther King Jr and Coretta Scott King. She was invited to present the award for my category and decided to mingle after the event. So if you know anything about me, you know my motto for life; "If the door is cracked, the door is open!"
I told her about this ministry and shared with her the ideas from my book, "I Curse Death." We also talked about Trinidad and Tobago so she shared with me her desire to visit the country soon. If you ever read my articles; and you would understand how I feel about the King family. She gave me a business card and I sent her an email that same night. That moment changed my life forever. I've met all kinds of celebrities but nothing touched me like that one conversation. She carries the anointing of her parents. Check out her website here.
Last weekend was amazing. The calibre of people I met in the space of two days really had me excited. I won't go into details but God has been great. By the way, if you go to the "Our Message" page on this site you'll see a new improvement. Tell me if you like it. If you don't, you can keep it to yourself. LOL! Take another look at our main scripture for today. Let's discuss it a little.
Proverbs 22:29(AMP) - Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.
When I sit on my bed with a heavy heart and heavy eyes working on my books I wonder if it's even worth it sometimes. Will people care about the depths of this revelation? Do people even want revelation? Why does God have me doing this? Which normal 28 year old man spends so much time writing? I tried one already and I'm still waiting to see where God will take it. Sometimes, it takes hours of research for one paragraph. Other times, it takes a week to get through one short passage of scripture. There are so many layers in there that I get lost in the depths of God's Wisdom. I wonder sometimes if people will even appreciate it.
This morning, I was a little tired when I asked God for a message for me that I can share with you. I wanted Him to straighten me out first before I said a word to you. He led me to Proverbs 22:29 and spoke to my heart about diligence and skillfulness. He showed me that I've already started seeing results. He then encouraged me to keep moving forward because the more I commit myself to those two qualities the more my life will increase.
Are you faithful to what God put you on this earth to do and are you really good at it? Then watch God position you in places of prominence. If you are not so inclined, I understand. You can check the archives for something else to read today. Living an average life is cool for some people. However, if you know that the sky is the limit for your life, this message is for you. Perfect your craft and then work at it over and over and over. Never get tired of doing it because if The Bible is the Word of God then God will do whatever it takes to keep His Word.
I stood before a King last Thursday so I think Solomon got it right. Never give up on your dreams! Never!
